This majestic castle on the Isle of Arran was once a Viking fortress. A restoration in the 1700's made it home to the Duke of Hamilton, and the impressive grounds and ornate Victorian rooms exude history. Robert the Bruce spent time as a prisoner in a cell here. Take a ferry from Ardrossan, near Glasgow, and explore this lovely island with its wildlife, ponds, waterfalls, and winding trails and stop at the Brodick for photos, history, and an elegant cup of tea in the tearoom.
